Grocery Mission

Since my husband and I have decided to take this leap of faith. I have been on a mission to save money. Now with that said I have have already cut back everything in the house including phone and dish. So I begin to read money saving mom's websites. I found an entire world out there that I did not know about or really was not interested in the past. I have joined the world of coupon's. Yes I said it I am clipping, printing, loading my Kroger card with savings and shopping the local ads. My goal is to cut our grocery bill in half. I had already been shopping at Aldi's and saving money but that is not enough. This morning I got out of bed and made my grocery list. I followed all the suggestion and decided to shop at Krogers. I know some of you are thinking really???? They are having 10 for 10 dollars sale and there were several items on sale that I had coupons for this week. They also double coupons 50 cents or less this week. I was amazed at the savings.

Grocery Items:
Bread
Hamburger buns
Sandwich meat
Polish sausage-2
Mild sausage
Canned fruit-2
Mac and Cheese
Spaghetti sauce
Pickles
Pork and Beans-2
Frozen Pizza-4

Chicken
Pull Ups
Frozen Vegetables-2

Total before Kroger Plus Card and Coupons: $80.46

I can't wait for Walgreen's to open in town. Almost every site I have visited Walgreen's is listed for savings. I will continue to post more information as I learn more about buying more for less. If anyone has any suggestion I am open to anything.

not our church, but is where Ryan will be going to preschool!

It is a great church, with great ministries,,,,
We typically order the box and everyother month an add on - which gives us 75% of our meat for the month - then we do aldis for veggies and potatoes, etc.

Just a thought, trying to help...

We use Krogers a lot, too, but its called Gerbes in Columbia. Check out their meat department... there are great sales! I have found that the breads, sodas, and some produce actually aren't good deals. Have you thought of using the bread store? Isnt' there a bakery outlet in Rolla? I usually forget to do this, but we have a Sara Lee outlet near our house and can get 5 loaves of that really tasty De-lightful Honey Wheat Bread that is normally 3 bucks a loaf for 5 dollars for 5, plus you get a free item when you spend 5 dollars. Usually, this is just TOO MUCH to fit in our freezer, and I feel like I should give it to someone else!

Walgreens... hmm... I love that store. Warning... its super easy to spend money there! There are some sales... some. I've found good things like expensive razors and makeup by one get one free, but often when I buy it, I didn't really actually NEED it. Also, they have great after holiday specials for candy, wrapping paper... things you don't acutally NEED, but if they are 75 percent off, you just can't pass up!
